Let the games begin!

Click on the "Daniel 1 - Week at a Glance" tab at the top of the page, and do "Day 1". Then, come back here and click on "Comments" to tell us what you thought. If you didn't have any thoughts that you'd like to share, how about you just tell us your name and what you're hoping to get out of your study of Daniel. I can't wait to meet you!

  1. As I read through Daniel, I noticed that God calls us to faithfulness, regardless of the situation/circumstances. It shows nothing about our faith or trust in God when we persevere in good times. Rather, God wants to see us prevail (through His power and grace) in the hard times. God, grant me faith enough to prevail.

Through this study, I want to fall in love with God's word. I want it to be the meditation of my heart.

  2. I am amazed at what ardent faithfulness looks like - there was a particular line (I only have The Message Bible in my apartment), when the men are facing the furnace - "even if He doesn't [save us], it wouldn't make a bit of difference." Wow. such conviction and love for God, whom we may not always understand. Daniel's trust in God before he faced the lions is what I desire in my relationship with God - complete and wholehearted trust. Even though I pray every night, I want my heart to be filled to the brim with trust in the Lord. No "I wonder why my life isn't perfect."

Lindsey, thank you for leading us through this chapter together!

  3. I noticed that Daniel followed God even though he was in the minority. He had complete trust and confidence in God. That is what I want also. I agree with you Lindsey that we live our faith through the hard times. Faith becomes more than just words.

I read through Daniel while waiting for my husband to get his "mask" made for radiation therapy. I am a seeker right now more than ever before - looking for every opportunity for God to speak to me.

  4. Hi!
I'm jumping in rather late, but I'm excited to find this study. Reading through Daniel it struck me that God was continually revealing himself so clearly and yet the kings were continually falling back into old ways, worshiping gods of gold, silver etc. How easy it is for me to get that way. I feel like God reveals Himself to me and when that happens, for a time I'm so excited, but then I go back to worshiping other things in my life - money, comfort, wanting to be in control and have a plan for the future.....I'm thankful that God has had more grace with me than with those kings so far!
Anyhow, I'm not going to "catch up" all of week 1, but I'm looking forward to week 2 tomorrow!
