Week 4 - Day 4

Week 4 - Day 4
  • Pray - Invite the God of the Universe to dwell on you as you study His word.
  • Read 1 Peter 4 - Today is the day when the chapter should begin to feel very familiar. You should be internalizing the words and committing the concepts to heart.
  • Read 1 Peter 4:12-19 - My recommendation would be for you to read this passage in 3 different versions (New Living, The Message, Amplified). As you read each one, make notes and add to your findings. Each translation has very different insights to add.
  • Apply - Work to make an action plan for how you can address trials that will inevitably enter your life. How do you feel the Lord is calling you to respond to suffering?
  • Comment - Share your insights with us.

  1. I like how immediately, Peter addresses the temptation to give into the "victim mantality." I like how it encourages us to get our minds off ourselves during times of suffering, and THEN he instructs us on what to fix our minds on. It's so crucial we have a right perspective on our sufferings if we are to have any hope of being victorious in the midst of them. Kind of reminded me of ingedients in the foods we eat. Our having a right perspective is like the ingredients that make a meal nutritious. If the ingedients are lacking nutrition, the final dish has no hope. The nurtients will not appear once the dish is made. They must be there in the beginning.
