Daniel 6
Day 1
- Pray - Invite the Holy Spirit into your study time. Sit quietly and peacefully before Him, so that you might glean the most from your study.
- Preview - Read Daniel 6 in your "go to" translation. Remember, read quickly. Don't stop and study.
- Read - Revisit Daniel 6:1-5. What did you notice about Daniel? What words were used to describe him? What motive did the officials have for finding fault in Daniel?
- Apply - Put yourself in Daniel's shoes. Would others find you blameless? Think about what words others would use to describe your character. Does your character need work?
Day 2
- Pray
- Read Daniel 6 in a new translation.
- Reread Daniel 6:6-10. What is your reaction to Daniel's boldness for God, even to the point of disobeying King Darius' decree? Do you possess that same boldness to serve God?
- Apply - Ask God to give you boldness for Him today, that He might equip you to stand for Him, even when it's not the popular thing to do.
Day 3
- Pray - Without God's presence hovering over us, we cannot understand His Word.
- Read Daniel 6. Try reading it aloud, if you have the opportunity. There is something special about surrounding ourselves with the audible word of God.
- Reread Daniel 6:11-16. What did you notice about King Darius' reaction to the fact that he would have to stick with his decree that anyone who prayed to God be put in the lions' den?
- Apply - Really take a moment to meditate on Daniel 6:16. What circumstances are you facing that require God's deliverance? Do you believe that He is able?
Day 4
- Pray
- Read Daniel 6
- Reread Daniel 6:17-22
- Apply - Imagine the feelings that Daniel was feeling as the stone slab was placed over the den's opening. Have you ever been at a point of crisis, in which faith in God's power was the only saving grace? Do you believe that we serve the same miraculous God? Do you trust Him to work miracles in your life?
Day 5
- Pray - Praise God for the faith story of Daniel in the lion's den.
- Read Daniel 6.
- Reread Daniel 6:23-28
- Apply - What is God calling you to do as a result of this story? Take some time to meditate on verse 27. Do you need saving and rescuing today? How will you let go of your troubles and let God work them out on your behalf?
